Our Expertise: David’s Soft Washing Journey
Nine years ago, I stepped into a management role for a company struggling with a failing power washing division. They were simply using high-pressure washers to blast dirt off surfaces, which led to complaints about damage and surfaces that didn’t get properly cleaned. That part of the business was losing money—and fast.
Through connecting with other professionals in the industry, I discovered soft washing. we built a skid with the right equipment and I learned the proper processes, chemical mixtures, and which cleaners to use on each surface. I discovered an entire world of possibilities: identify a stain, and there’s almost always a solution—if you know what you’re looking for.
I found I could make homes, decks, driveways, and even large commercial buildings with multiple specialized surfaces—like Jerusalem stone, specialty concrete paneling, and metal paneling—look almost new. And I could do it faster than I ever thought possible. A two-story home that used to take two people a day and a half to clean could now be done by me alone in a single day. Customers were happy, and the company’s bottom line improved dramatically.
The next step on the journey
My skills and knowledge in soft washing eventually led me to a larger cleaning corporation, where I worked with Brand new, big equipment and received extensive support to continue learning. I trained with some of the largest commercial and residential soft washing companies in the world, refining my expertise on even the most challenging surfaces.
Even with all that money and fancy equipment, I quickly realized that big trucks and expensive tools don’t automatically translate to better results for customers. Much of the equipment was new and untested, prone to breakdowns, and the manufacturer often focused on creating the next product rather than fixing recurring issues. The systems were overly complicated and didn’t improve efficiency or quality the way it should have. That experience reinforced an important lesson: experience, skill, and knowing your tools matter far more than size or price tag.
Stellar Soft Washing
Now, in our first year of business with Stellar Window Cleaning, I’m back to a modest, small-scale setup. While we hope to purchase a full truck and build a true soft washing skid in 2026. That said, we already have the right tools to handle any job. For larger projects, we rent specialized equipment as needed. Despite the small setup, we consistently deliver spectacular results—on homes, decks, roofs, driveways, and commercial buildings alike.
